Can abstraction evoke taste and memory as powerfully as realism? After returning to Berlin from a trip in 2018, during which he was inspired by the diversity of Viennese pastries, Wenger translated these culinary impressions into a series of screen prints. The works take the form of abstract interpretations of various iconic Austrian pastries, including classics such as strudel and yeast dumplings, as well as lesser-known specialities such as Topfengolatschen, poppy seed noodles, Schaumrollen and Butterzopf.
